Nutrition Advocacy

As a clinical social worker, educator, and parent, I am passionate in helping schools to build strong nutrition  programs that nurture children’s cognitive, emotional, and physical development.

To ensure that our children grow up with healthy bodies and minds, it is crucial that we teach them healthy habits from a young age, allowing them to cultivate naturally positive relationships with food.

I have most recently joined forces with Sinai Temple Preschool to implement a school wide nutrition program. Through this unique collaboration we have:

  • Created a step by step action plan for a healthy school
  • Created a healthy snack program that is provided to all children

  • Reformed school policies to reflect research-driven recommendations

  • Integrated physical education, nutrition, and gardening into the existing curriculum

  • Educated staff and parents on current research, guidelines, and strategies for keeping kids healthy at home and in school

My vision is to help schools throughout Los Angeles become part of the initiative to nourish our children from the inside out.

"Fostering the love of learning needs flexibility and cooperation by staff and families alike.  As a parent, Danielle Horwich succeeded in this by inspiring and supporting our development of a fresh approach to nutrition in our school.  Danielle  is compassionate, sensible, and friendly yet serious and dependable. She consistently proves to be insightful and resourceful and she accomplishes beyond the scope of expectation.  Her warm and vibrant personality endears her to everyone around her, and because of her exemplary skills as a therapist she relates exceedingly well with both teachers and parents.  I have found Danielle to be exceedingly loyal to our school and I am honored that I have the opportunity to both work with and learn from her.
